The
Software Integration & Visualization Office (SIVO)
is pleased to announce the first major science application experiment
of the Modeling, Analysis, and Prediction (MAP) program of NASA
Headquarters. MAP ’05 is
designed to demonstrate NASA’s competencies in atmospheric data
assimilation and prediction, enabled by the scientific research
efforts of Goddard’s
Earth-Sun Division. It is also intended to showcase NASA’s unmatched
capability in high performance computing, with major contributions
from Project
Columbia of the Ames Research Center, and Goddard’s own NASA
Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS). SIVO will bring together
a diverse set of resources to help scientists better understand
the effectiveness of the models to predict an extreme weather
event. MAP ‘05 is
being conducted as collaboration between NASA and the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
